I-mess won't go way

@ 07:41 AM (17 months, 3 days ago)

The Imus scandal may have started with a disgusting racist remark, but it wasn't just a black and white argument .. it was also about women. But Righties are ignoring this issue and are trying to equate the Rutgers incident with the Duke lacrosse case.

Nope, you can't compare these female college athletes who were innocently living their lives when they were blind-sided by a barstool bigot, with a group of male college athletes who chose to throw a private party and hire a stripper, only to get suckered by her.

I have to say that I am glad the charges against the boys were dropped .. that they weren't sent to prison for something they didn't do. And DA Nifong should be investigated and disbarred if the charges against him prove true -- the latest being that he exploited a mentally unstable woman (stripper) for political gain.

But hey, when you combine a couple of strippers, some hormone-raging college boys, a lot of booze and who knows what else, inside a private house -- what could go wrong?

Thirty years from now these guys will be drinking beer and reminiscing on the wildest  house party ever. Tell me I’m wrong.

But .. getting back to criticizing attacks against race while ignoring attacks against women.

The hypocrisy is knee deep right now .. it extends to insults even Democrats make about Hillary Clinton. I don't care if you want her as the nominee or if you're working for Edwards or Obama .. if you think Imus was wrong, it's time you check your own language.

Even though Hillary Clinton is not my candidate, I get so sick of the attacks against her. It's a staple on Rightie radio and blogs .. this demeaning of the first viable female candidate for president. Slanderous attacks that call her a "money whore" or something equally derogatory .. some call her a lesbian .. all blame her for Bill's sleazy behavior. They rarely attack her policies, they always attack her womanhood.

Hillary Clinton and the Rutgers team may be of different races, but the issue is still the same. The denigration of women who are going for the brass ring, who are trying to be the best that they can be. Women who have to have incredible courage, strength and personal accomplishment .. while having to duck vile language that's meant to hold them down and make them 'less.'

And I cannot stand these phony male politicians and entertainers who profited from going on Imus' show to promote themselves and their books, but are now 'outraged' by his remarks. They've turned a blind eye to the sins of the I-man for decades.

I say 'male' because there were very few females ever on his show.

Ever notice that there are no 'nappy headed' hosts on any prime time news shows on MSNBC, FOX, CNN, ABC, CBS, or NBC?

Furthermore, there is very little color or gender diversity on the Sunday morning political talk show circuit, either .. where public and foreign policy issues are discussed and opinions shaped.

Gah, this is the 21st freaking CENTURY! Could we please -- at some point in time before we go EXTINCT -- evolve to the point where we can respect each other as just human beings?!
