The dog ate Rove's email
Okay, is anybody shocked that the White House (Rove) used private email accounts so they could sidestep Federal laws requiring that all White House communications must be saved and not deleted?
And I'm certainly not surprised that Rove "lost" years of emails .. it's obvious that the WH is withholding evidence which it knows is damning.
"WASHINGTON, April 13 — Karl Rove, the chief political strategist for President Bush, did not intentionally delete e-mail messages to avoid creating a paper trail detailing his work, his lawyer said on Friday. Rather, he mistakenly thought that the messages were being preserved by the Republican National Committee.
....In addition to their government e-mail addresses, Mr. Rove and 21 other White House officials maintain e-mail accounts with the national committee that are supposed to be used for political business only." ....
Back in 2004, as part of the Valerie Plame investigation, Special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald put a hold on the WH deleting emails.
So they did. Except, it turns out, for Karl Rove's emails .. many of which are still missing. Now how peculiar is that?
We found out that Rove used his RNC account for 95 percent of his email. How much of this correspondence was supposed to be done -- by law -- in White House e-mail accounts?
He surely knows about the 1978 law that requires the White House to keep "documents that relate to presidential actions, decisions and deliberations" .. a law stemming from the Nixon/Watergate scandal.
Surely the White House didn't break the law and conduct government business on private e-mail accounts .. surely Rove didn't deliberately delete e-mails relating to the firing of those prosecutors .. or the outing of Valerie Plame ...
Hmm -- although the hold started in August 2004, the RNC does not have any e-mails prior to 2005 for Rove. So, there's only one logical explanation for the e-mails missing from his account -- Karl Rove personally deleted his e-mails from the RNC server.
Too bad Rove didn't remember Sandy Berger and print out all those emails, stuff them down his shorts, hide them under a construction trailer for awhile, then take them home and cut them up with scissors ...
Ah, but that stupid Sandy left the ORIGINALS in place .. the WH and RNC probably wouldn't be that dumb!
Wait a minute! .. I know what happened to Rove's emails! They're just stuck in one of those "tubes" Sen. Ted Stevens spoke of when he was explaining the "internets" to us.
