Righties wanted "Let's Roll" at VT
Well, it has started -- the same Righties who were calling the British naval hostages treasonous cowards are now calling the students of Virginia Tech wimpy cowards.
They say college classrooms are full of young men who are at their physical peak, and why didn't they do anything more than ducking, running, and holding doors shut.
They are saying that there are sheep and there are wolves .. and there were not enough wolves at Virginia Tech that morning. Just one old man who used his body as a shield.
They ask if the heroes of Flight 93 didn't teach us anything ...
If you bravely fight back you will all die anyway?
Why didn't those kids fight back? .. because if these brave Rightie Action Heroes had been in that situation they would have rushed the gunman, disarmed him, and subdued him .. just like in a Rambo movie ...
Yeah sure, rush a gunman firing a Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol .. him in front of the classroom, kids in the back. Or the shooter in the doorway firing away, with no way for the students to attack him but charge for ten feet completely open to gunfire ...
And how do they know that none of the victims did, in fact, take a run at the shooter only to get their heads blown off?
Wait a minute .. you mean all you need to overcome a gunman are some brass ones? Does the NRA know this?
Now, I can’t imagine what it would be like to be sitting in a lecture hall and have someone walk in and suddenly start firing away .. people falling, screaming in pain, blood spurting everywhere. I imagine that I’d be mostly terrified and my survival instinct would kick in .. and I'd be looking for any possible exit strategy .. or play dead like the one girl did.
And I’d be alive, most likely.
VT's Ryan Clark was a hero .. the second victim of Cho Seung-Hui was killed in the dormitory trying to save the first victim.
People who have not been through something that horrific should just shut up and not criticize the actions of anyone who has .. maybe everyone should just talk as if the parents who lost their children are listening.
Next -- the Righties seriously advocate that kids in dorms should carry guns.
Yes, let's arm the biggest group of binge drinkers in American society. What could go wrong?
They drink until they fall over .. and break bottles over each other's heads and whack each other with lacrosse sticks and .. well, let's just say that dorms are a particularly bad place to keep guns around.
Sometimes when I listen to these Righties talk .. I have a better understanding of what Darwin was going on about all those years ago.
BTW--if these Big Brave Righties are so gung-ho, the Army sure needs them right now in Iraq. It has its hands full because the death squads have returned full force. 233 Iraqis killed in the last couple days, mostly in bombings.
32 dead kids is just a slow news day in Iraq.
