Britney Spears Guide to the Stimulus Package

@ 07:37 AM (9 months, 5 days ago)

Just vote for the dang thing...then sit down and shut up...

I’m ignoring those who bleat that President Obama is going to fail. Far from it. I believe that a stimulus package not vastly different from the one he proposed will pass the Senate next week. Not bad for three weeks work.

Yes, you just watch - the stimulus bill will pass. It might not look like what Obama started with, but think about this - maybe it looks like something he probably meant to end up with. Maybe he just loaded it up with some crap he didn’t really want...just so the Republicans could bitch, so that dropping that stuff counts as a "compromise."

Because if he started off with a bill he’s not willing to compromise on, that would mean he didn’t have the foresight to bring some bargaining chips to the table. I trust his political savvy and think he's playing it smart.

If Obama had just steamrolled them, the public would have been subjected to four years of whining about it...and it might effect the next election.

People have to be shown, in a crystal-clear manner, that Republicans would throw the country in the dumpster for political gain.

So remember that while you're bitching about him letting the Republican Party have too much say about how to save the economy. Besides, would anyone in their right mind seek advice from the ones who broke the economy?

If Republican tax cuts are good for the economy, we would be riding the gravy train rather than being thrown under it.

So let the Republicans pull their stale old BS and turn everything into nitpicking over details...all the while more jobs are being slashed every day and the recession grows worse minute by minute.

Anyway, the bill is supposed to be “temporary” and “targeted.” We need government spending to stimulate demand...why not immediately start to spend it on infrastructure and alternative energy? If they don't whittle out the pork before they sign it, they can do so as they go along.

With a stimulus package of this size, there's bound to be a little wasteful spending. There’s no way we can spend $800 to $900 billion quickly without a little waste...it comes with the territory. This is an emergency...the normal rules don't apply.

BTW--why can't Democrats have stronger Senate leaders? Neither Daschle nor Reid have had the requisite cojones to stand up to the bleating Republicans.
