Righties jump on the conspiracy train

@ 08:03 PM (38 months, 3 days ago)

Republicans are falling all over themselves trying to come up with some creative way to blame the Gulf oil spill disaster on President Obama. They are desperate to make the spill "Obama's Katrina" .. based on nothing more than both are Gulf Coast disasters.

Rush Limbaugh was the first, bleating that the explosion on the oil rig probably had something to do with "hardcore environmentalist whackos" because of the timing of the Senate's cap-and-trade bill.

BTW -- Here's how silly Rush is .. he claims cleanup is unnecessary, as oil is as natural as the ocean water is, and the ocean will take care of itself if left to its own devices.

Then this morning Fox News "Fox & Friends" jumped on the crazy train suggesting that sabotage and politics may have been involved. Based on what, I don't know. Maybe one part blind partisanship, one part wild imaginations, and a dash of meanness.

Of course, when it comes to Republican conspiracy theories, they don't have to make sense, they don't even have to be persuasive .. they just have to be REPEATED.

They start on Limbaugh's show, and then Fox News runs with it .. then the main stream media picks it up by reporting that "some say" politically-motivated sabotage may have been involved.

Their tactics remind me of what Nazi Joseph Goebbels said: "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." Think healthcare death panels.

Sorry people .. BP, Transocean, and Halliburton are the ones who need to do the explaining. Not Obama. Who was at fault after the Exxon Valdez in 1989? George H.W.Bush? How silly.

It's interesting how all these anti-government righties suddenly start braying that the federal government needs to do more .. when they're always preaching that private enterprise is more efficient, faster, better. Why aren't they yelling for the private industry to get a move on .. that BP isn't efficient enough?

I don't know what more Obama can do than what he's already doing.

This could have been prevented .. but corporate cost-cutting got in the way. Now all gulf coast residents have a NIGHTMARE on their hands for a VERY long time .. and it could have been prevented. So sad!
