We're just so danged proud
Mary Fallin, Oklahoma's Republican congresswoman and gubernatorial candidate, is a classic example of crazy on a stick .. of how loony right-wing politics have gotten.
Fallin, who represents Oklahoma City's district, couldn’t be bothered to go back for the emergency session to pass legislation to get more funding for the states, because she was flat out against it.
Yep, who cares if many Oklahoma cities are turning off lights and cutting employment rolls? Who cares if Oklahoma police, teachers, and fire fighters are losing their jobs?
But wait .. Fallin did return to the session .. not to stand up for Oklahoma in this time of crisis, but just so she could vote for a bill that amounts to anti-immigrant grandstanding .. a bill that put $600 million towards beefing up border security.
In other words, Republicans don't think there’s enough money to pave roads and pay state employees .. but boy howdy, there's enough money to showboat and pander to racists.
And Democrats aren't off the hook either -- that showboating waste of money wouldn’t have passed without their help.
At the end of the day, Fallin probably won't have to pay a political price for her stance against basic government services that she and her Tea Party base pretend they don’t use.
How I wish there was a legal way to create a system where, if your representative doesn’t vote for the bill, you get no funding from it.
Because, at the end of the day, the bill was passed and Oklahoma is going to get $300 million.
And, just watch .. before you know it, Fallin will show up at some event where that money is being spent to help Oklahoma .. she'll be smiling for photo-ops and taking credit for it.
This is what Tea Party demagoguery has done to our politics .. giving us a candidate who campaigns on not lifting a finger to help out the state she wishes to run .. concentrating instead on violent hordes of illegal immigrants raping and pillaging on the border .. when no such threat really exists.
If Fallin were an actual Mama Grizzly, she'd be letting her cubs be killed by predators while she ran off to scout the border and scare white people .
