Did I fall asleep and wake up on April 1st?
Or more like Groundhog's Day ...
Talking about the "One and Done" op-ed piece in Washington Post by these two fake Democrats (Fox puts them on to show how fair and balanced they are), who argue that President Obama "has largely lost the consent of the governed" and "should announce immediately that he will not be a candidate for reelection in 2012."
"If the president goes down the reelection road, we are guaranteed two years of political gridlock at a time when we can ill afford it. But by explicitly saying he will be a one-term president, Obama can deliver on his central campaign promise of 2008, draining the poison from our culture of polarization and ending the resentment and division that have eroded our national identity and common purpose."
Boy howdy, Sarah Palin and the Tea Party will think this is a rilly rilly smart idea .. you betcha!
Yep, that's just what the right wants the Dems to do .. give up on Obama, nominate someone weaker and give the R's a free ride to the White House. Gimme a break. Democratic turnout is always higher in presidential years, and once the GOP shuts down government and nominates Sarah Palin for president .. Obama's reelection will be easy-peasy.
The only way to placate the Republicans is to lie down and let them roll over us? I think not! All we have to do is wait for old bigots to die and young racists to be outnumbered by minorities .. when the R's are in the minority we'll see who starts begging for bipartisanship.
Hey, why not just get Obama's entire Presidency annulled? If he actually was born here, he could claim retroactive Kenyan citizenship, and then he never would have been President at all!
Seriously, what drugs are these people on? Turning himself into a lame duck with a Republican majority is how Obama can get things done?
Fact is, Obama's approval ratings are better than Reagan's or Clinton's at the same point in their first terms .. and his likely opposition in 2012 will be some extremist right-winger the country will reject.
GWBush dropped below 20% approval a few times, and nobody ever suggested this meant he wasn't President. Some people suggested he'd never actually been legitimately elected .. but we've put that behind us.
It's time for the right to accept that Obama got elected, and that for a President in a bad economy (that he didn't create), he's actually pretty popular.
